21ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ಲಾಸ್ಟಿಕ್ ಮಹಾಮಾರಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದನ್ನ ಹೋಗಲಾಡಿಸಬೇಕಿದೆ ಎಂದು
ಎಸ್ಸಿ, ಎಸ್ಟಿ ನೌಕರರ ಸಂಘದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಜಿ.ಡಿ ಮನೋಜ್ ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಕಾರವಾರ ರವೀಂದ್ರನಾಥ ಟಾಗೋರ್ ಕಡಲ ತೀರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಒಸಿಯನ್ ಸೊಸೈಟಿ ಆಫ್ ಇಂಡಿಯಾ ಮತ್ತು ಕಡಲ ಜೀವಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ವಿಭಾಗ ಕಾರವಾರ ಇವರು ಜಂಟಿಯಾಗಿ ನಡೆಸಿದ ವಿಶ್ವಸಾಗರ ದಿನದ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ಬೀಚ್ ಕ್ಲೀನ್ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಉದ್ದೇಶಿಸಿ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. ಪ್ಲಾಸ್ಟಿಕ್ ನಿಂದ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಅಪಾಯ ವಿದೆ. ಕಡಲನ್ನ ಸ್ವಚ್ಛವಾಗಿಡುವುದರಿಂದ ಜಲಚರಗಳಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾನವ ಕುಲಕ್ಕೂ ಒಳಿತಾಗಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಸಮುದ್ರವನ್ನ ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ಪ್ರಯೊಬ್ಬರ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯೂ ಆಗಿದೆ. ಹೀಗಿರುವಾಗ ಇಂತಹ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಮಾನವನ ದೇಹದಲ್ಲೂ ಪ್ಲಾಸ್ಟಿಕ್ ಕಣಗಳು ಪತ್ತೆಯಾಗಿರುವುದು ಅಧ್ಯಯನದಿಂದ ತಿಳಿದು ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಅಪಾಯಕಾರಿ ಪ್ಲಾಸ್ಟಿಕ್ ನಿರ್ಮೂಲನೆ ನಮ್ಮ ನಿಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ಆದ್ಯ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯ ಆಗಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಕಿವಿಮಾತು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಇದೇ ವೇಳೆ, ಕವಿವಿಯ ಸ್ನಾತಕೋತ್ತರ ಕೇಂದ್ರದ ಪ್ರೋ. ಡಾ. ಜಗನ್ನಾಥ್ ರಾಠೋಡ್ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಕಡಲ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ತಾಯಿಯ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ಎಂದರು. ತಾಯಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಕಾಳಜಿ ವಹಿಸುವಂತೆ ಕಡಲ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಬೇಕಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಅಲ್ಲದೇ, ಒಸಿಯನ್ ಸೊಸೈಟಿ ಆಫ್ ಇಂಡಿಯಾದ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನ ಶ್ಲಾಘಿಸಿದರು. ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರಗಳು ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹಲವಾರು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನ ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದು, ಮುಂಬರುವ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಇಂತಹ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಗಳು ಜರುಗಲಿವೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗಿಯಾಗಿ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಗೊಳಿಸಿದ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರತ್ಯಕ್ಷವಾಗಿ ಮತ್ತು ಪರೋಕ್ಷವಾಗಿ ಸಹಕರಿಸಿದ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಧನ್ಯವಾದ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ 8.30 ರಿಂದ ಆರಂಭವಾದ ಸ್ವಚ್ಛತಾಕಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಖ್ಯಾತ ವಕೀಲರಾದ ಅನುಜ್ ಅಗ್ರ ನಾಯಕ್ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಸಮೇತರಾಗಿ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಬಿಣಗಾ ಮಹಾನಾಯಕ್ ತಾಂಡಾದ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರಾದ ಮಂಜುನಾಥ್ ರಾಠೋಡ್, ಕವಿವಿ ಸ್ನಾತಕೋತ್ತರ ಕೇಂದ್ರದ ಬೋಧಕ ಮತ್ತು ಬೋಧಕೇತರ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳು, ಸೈನ್ಸ್ ಸೆಂಟರ್ ನಿಂದ ರೋಹನ್ ಮತ್ತು ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ವರ್ಗ, ರಾಜೇಶ್ ನಾಯಕ್, MPEDA ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಪ್ರಶಾಂತ್ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ 50 ರಿಂದ 60 ಜನರು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು.

Plastic has become a pandemic in the 21st century. It needs to be eliminated, said G.D. Manoj, President of SC, ST Employees Association. He was addressing a beach clean program jointly organized by the Ocean Society of India and the Department of Marine Biology, Karwar, as part of World Oceans Day at Rabindranath Tagore Beach in Karwar. Plastic poses a threat to everyone. He said that keeping the sea clean will benefit aquatic life and humanity. The responsibility of protecting the sea is also everyone's responsibility. In such a situation, he said that such programs should be held continuously. Studies have shown that plastic particles have been found in the human body too. He said that eliminating such dangerous plastic should be our top priority.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Jagannath Rathod of Kavivi Postgraduate Centre said that it is our responsibility to protect the mother as we are all children of the sea. He said that the sea should be protected as we take care of the mother. He also praised the work of the Ocean Society of India. The central and state governments have organized several programs in this regard and said that such programs will be held in the coming days as well. He thanked everyone who participated in the program and made it a success and cooperated directly and indirectly.
Renowned lawyer Anuj Agra Nayak arrived with his family in the cleanliness drive that started at 8.30 am.
50 to 60 people including Manjunath Rathod, head of Binaga Mahanayak Thanda, teaching and non-teaching staff of Kavivi Postgraduate Centre, Rohan and staff from Science Centre, Rajesh Nayak, Prashant from MPEDA participated.
